Structural Engineering

Construction Methodology

Our façade consultants possess expertise in the sequence of installation of chosen façade systems and its impact on the structural design of a building. This sequence determines the selection of profiles, framing brackets, and fixings, and provides vital input into design of the primary framework of the building. By assisting project structural engineers with façade load distribution, our consultants play a crucial role in the design of slabs, beams, and columns layouts, ensuring optimal performance and structural integrity of the building envelope.

Movement and Tolerances

Our engineers perform a thorough analysis of the primary framework movement to ensure the proper selection of gaskets and system accessories. This is achieved by considering factors such as instantaneous facade dead-load, life-load deflection, and deflection under long-term primary structure dead-load. Our movement and tolerance reports provide crucial information for the development of the façade systems, taking into account factors such as inter-storey drift, building sway, and accommodating for fabrication tolerances and thermal movement. The goal is to ensure that the façade performance is not compromised as a result of building movement.

Static Analysis

In our design process, we thoroughly analyze the secondary metal framework, brackets, and fixings to ensure that they are capable of withstanding the relevant loads. Our engineers utilize various finite element analysis (FEA) software tools to perform comprehensive checks of the critical structural components of the chosen façade system. This step is crucial in ensuring the stability and longevity of the façade design, as well as meeting necessary building codes and standards. The results of these analyses inform any necessary modifications to the design, ensuring that the final product is structurally sound and efficient.
